Race Info

Each rider can enter one of three different rides:

Most children enter the main event called the ‘Monster Mountain Bike Challenge’. They will ride against kids the same age and gender, on age-appropriate courses, with awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and every finisher getting a medal. There is a lead and tail end adult on a bike for each age group, so this is fine for most entry level riders as well as the more experienced of course.

Option two is the ‘Elite Race’ in both boys and girls. This is where experienced mountain bikers prove their skills over a technical 16km course, with trophies and prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.   The record is 49 minutes for boys, and 57 for girls. Can you beat that?

The third option is the fun ride, this is for children who are very new to riding and / or don’t feel like the can complete the distance that is assigned to their age group. There are two fun rides - Novice (about 2km for 5 - 7 year olds) or Intermediate (about 5km for 8 - 12 year olds). All finishers get a medal but are not eligible for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd awards. This is for beginner riders or those with less confidence.
